So I had mine for 7.5 years and they initially said these last 5 years but when I went in for a removal they sent me home and said it’s good for 8 years now.
I was skeptical but thought ok, saves me the hassle, I’ll come back. Then this past 6 months plus or something I’ve just felt horrible, no energy, sleeping all the time but still exhausted, crying over nothing, depressed, etc etc, gained weight in the last 6 months only… i decided it had to be the iud because I’m not on anything else or any other meds. I read that I probably had a crash because the hormones are probably wearing out. It made sense so I decided I wanted it out.
I always could feel the string so today after reading some posts I decided to just check to make sure it was still there. I went in the bathroom and did the squat thing and I was easily able to grab the string. I decided to just give it a little tug and stop if it was painful but as soon as I barely pulled the whole thing popped out intact and I didn’t even feel it 😂🤦♀️😜!! They don’t do anything different at planned parenthood anyway so I figured since it came out so easily and all in one piece I’m probably good but I’ll definitely watch out for anything weird.
Anyway, I see so many people say not to do it yourself but in my opinion this was wayyyy easier than going in to PP!! I think if it’s all in one piece after and you just pay attention for anything odd then you are probably fine. I am so relieved. I can’t wait to see if that was the problem. I just read so many comments on here of ppl experiencing the same problem that it made sense. 10/10 for self removal 😂 🤦♀️🤗. It took 3 seconds lol
