Am I The Crazy One Or?
Post Body

To give some back story I own a 89’ b2200, great truck it was my first vehicle when I was 16. I’m 21 now and im trying to buy this 94’ b2300 from this guy in my town,or at least I was. I’ll add pictures below you’ll see it’s not a bad looking truck,263k miles, the interior looks refurbished and kept in well condition, clutch and gears felt fine, I popped the hood and it looked slightly dirts but not bad all and all, ac blew cold, needed new tires, you know it had a few scratches but it looked to be in pretty good shape. That’s when I looked underneath the truck, you know it’s wasn’t horrible up front rusted but mostly just surface rust, then I look at the rear leaf spring mounts,I didn’t take any pictures while I was over there checking it out but they were rusted to the point where I was shocked to say the least, the driver side I could almost stick my whole hand through completely and the passenger side wasn’t much better. My truck is 5 years older and isn’t nearly as bad as his 94’ when it comes to the leaf springs and mounts, I didn’t feel comfortable even driving it,the guy didn’t give me bad vibes but he gave me weird vibes.First I tried to talk to him about my truck a little but he really didn’t seem interested,he hasn’t owned the truck more than a year, me for about 5. The truck had a clean tittle, only 2 owners, guy said the previous owner was a “mechanic” and re did a bunch of stuff “timing chain, new brakes and rotors”(rotors had good amount of rust) and so on. I asked why the timing chain and stuff was there something wrong? He just said he didn’t know that’s what his mechanic told him. Had all the paperwork originally receipt from when the guy bought it new, kinda cool but it’s not a Ferrari your not paying for perfect and complete history. Okay, so not great at this point, I show him the leaf springs and mounts and he said he had no idea ( not that hard to see, my truck is really low I could understand if it were my truck but his I just peaked my head under and just said “oh wow”). So me and my grandfather take it for a quick spin I didn’t want to drive it because I didn’t feel comfortable with the rear end,my grandpa drove up and down the block and it drove okay and the ac was great but man I could definitely feel the rear end step out and just not like the bumbs, when we got back we discussed the rear end and just how difficult it can be to find key suspension components like that and even if you find one you need 2, plus labor it’s would definitely be an endeavor. To the end of all of this insanity, he was asking 2300 for it( why 2300 maybe cuz it’s a b2300 idk dumb if you ask me, I bought my truck for 600 dollars, let’s say his is twice the truck mine is,I’ll pay you 1200 then, triple is 1800, like the Kelly blue book for good condition is 1800. We offered him 2000 cash on the spot and he said no he’ll just drive it around for 2000. Umm? You see the rear end this is dangerous you shouldn’t drive it honestly, he goes “oh my mechanic has a welder I’ll have him look at it and weld it back”. Ummmmmm? Bro it’s all gone???? You can’t weld that??? It was just stupid if you ask me, it’s sad I liked it and was whiling to show it the love it needed, it’s hard dealing with people that don’t really know these trucks, or common sense. Am I the crazy one?
