[Java] Converting old maps (1.3.1) to latest versions & recreating world

Post Body

Hi guys! So I've recently started playing Minecraft again after a very looong stop.

I have kept all my world saves from 1.3.1 and am currently in the process of loading them in each release version until the latest release 1.15.2 (I'm currently at 1.8.2 with no major issue yay)

Since 1.3.1 a LOT of changes have been done to this game (new biomes, monsters, resources, villages, etc) and I would like to experience them on these old maps, however I fear I would have to travel may too far to even have a new biome created.

My question would be:
Is there a way to preserve some of the constructions I've made, and place them in a new world, or have it regenerated keeping the same seed (Nether included)? I was thinking of using MCEdit but I'm not sure if it's still compatible. I've also heard of MCA Selector which seems to allow selecting specific chunks of the map.

Basically, what would you advise to use as a tool or combination of tools that would allow me to save / select specific constructions and recreate my world while preserving the seed to benefit from all these new features?

Thank you so much for your help!
