I’m currently a player on a modded 1.19.3 server. Frequently when I am in roughly the same chunk as another player, one or the other of us will crash, receiving a Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.EncoderException: Java.lang.NullPointerException “Connection Lost” screen.

It seems to happen entirely at random, and often time logging back on will cause the other person to immediately crash with the same error, and so on and so forth. It only happens around other players. Never when I’m on alone, or far away from others.

Other than close approximation to each other, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to when or where this bug chooses to strike, nor whom it effects. Sometimes it might be the other person crashing repeatedly, sometimes myself, sometimes we take turns.

I have a few mods, but all are up to date, and the fact that it happens to other players who don’t have any mods, it have different mods, makes me feel like it must be something else. I urgently beseech your aid, because it’s making the server almost unplayable and I can’t find any information anywhere’s
