[q] Create a random spawn location in nether for SMP?

I really want to get back into Minecraft, but a lot of friends of mine agree that it needs to be harder and make death more costly, without having day/week bans. We decided it would be a fit punishment for you to spawn in a random location in the nether, so that you would have to be rescued. I've been doing some googling on my breaks at work today and I can't find a mod that could get the job done (admittedly, I've been away from the game for quite some time). Could someone please link me to the tools I need to do this, or would I need to write my own mod/plugin? Thanks!
