when i press right click it places 2 blocks

Hello all,
This started just a week or so ago. I just right click to place a block and about half the time it quickly places the first and then another on top. This is really annoying and I know it's only a minecraft problem because this isn't occurring in any other games or applications.
I have optifine installed and play the latest version of the game. Could it be video settings or something? Please help its really annoying!
