Help op-ing myself

I have been having a problem getting myself op-ed on my server. I have added myself to the ops text and created a admin.txt but for some reason it doesnt work. Not to sound stupid, what EXACTLY is needed to be typed into the ops.txt to op yourself or am I having larger server issues?
