Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Well I guess I am an average minecraft player. Im not making the enterprise in my spare time or anything but I have a nice little house carved into the mountain with some mines and caves in the lower levels. Well today I was exploring a cave got completely lost then got killed by zombies and skeletons. I managed to make my way back to my spawn and inside my house a zombie was just hanging out and I couldnt get to all my stuff and I lost all my stuff. This makes me almost not want to play anymore.
