Console Map Help?

Hey all, I'm playing again for the first time in years, got a cozy little setup and wanted to start exploring.
I got to the edge of the map, the physical one in your inventory, and expected it to scroll or expand and it didnt so now I'm a little lost. Now I'm seeing online it just can't be expanded in console version?
Wondering if anyone's got any ideas on what to do, or am I just screwed?
