Trying to make my pre-1.14 village grow.

EDIT: Ok, I figured out and a friend helped me: Trade with the villagers, have enough beds, and give them food. It looks like carrots works fine. At least, I have already my first child!

Well, the title pretty much sums the basis: I got this world created on 1.13 (Java). After making a decent base, I found a village and began fortifying it.

Fast forward to the 1.14 release, when I arrived at the village I found a squad of illagers killing my defensless villagers. I arrived on time and saved most of them, but I got 4 villagers left after some of them misteriously dissapeared.

Now I have a village with over 8, valid (with bed) buildings. All the four villagers are employed (One weaponsmith, or whatever is called the guy who sell you weapons and tools, two farmers and one librarian) I do frequent "trading runs" between my base and the Village, but I haven't got any new villager since.

I've read that for the villagers to start reproducing, you need a valid house (Which seems to be a covered place with a bed), and the villagers must be "willing", which can be obtained through trading or gifting food. Which I've been doing.

So... I don't know what's going on. I don't have a bell in the village, nor golems. Most of the workstations are near my house, because also the villagers looked like they had problems finding some of them inside the houses. There's a huge mineshaft down the village, and a river, but otherwise, there's no real chance for anyone to "escape" from it.

Am I having bad luck? Am I forgetting something?
