I am trying to play minecraft without optifine, and at max settings. The reason why? Because I want to make sure my investment in this gaming laptop is worth it, and I don't like being dependent on optifine. I have a ASUS ROG with nvidia gtx 1060 6gigs vram, 16 gigs system ram, 8th gen i7. With max settings I am bouncing from high 30's to low 60's. This is straight vanilla Minecraft, no mods, no shaders. Am I incorrect in thinking I should have a lot higher fps? Even when I turn render distance down to 12 I still only get around 150 fps. I realize that this is totally playable, but its not the point. I feel like if I pay $1200 for a laptop with these specs I should be getting 300-400 fps, or am I wrong?
