My clan runs a Minecraft server with vanilla 1.8, but I can't play on it because the network usage is so high, to the point it maxes out the download capability of my 1.5mbps network. I literally can't play it.
As I'm writing this I'm playing on a 1.7.10 server with 150 mods and I can play on it just fine - 100kbps on average, up to 500kbps when I'm loading chunks.
1.8 seems to leak memory much, much faster - the GC runs way more often and the ticker in the F3 menu shoots up quite quickly - so I'm thinking maybe the server data comes and then just vanishes to the GC's insatiable maw, so to speak.
Has anyone else encountered this issue with huge network consumption? And if so, have any of you found a fix or gotten help from Mojang?
