I am shipping off to Fort Jackson from Charlotte NC on Feb 18th for 25U and i have some last min questions.

The first is regarding traveling to basic. I wanted to know if we would be flying or riding a bus. Im hoping flying because I have never been on a plane and would love to experience that. Also because there is a WWE show I want to go to the night before. May not be worth attending if I have to be up at like 3am or im at a hotel miles away.

The second and third is regarding bathroom breaks. Im moderately lactose intolerant and potentially gluten intolerant. Both of which is self diagnosed. My recruiter told me not to tell MEPS about my gluten if im seriously considering joining. Seeing as im homeless, i cant really get a good understanding of what i can and cannot handle. So far its just pasta, Chinese, and maybe bread (although I can eat subway just fine. As far as I can tell, i can handle it fine if i drink plenty of water, which i imagine wont be an issue. Other than that, i just plan to have OJ for breakfast.

Next, I was wondering what Sundays are like. From my research, thats the only day off and would be best attending church unless i wanted to stay and clean. Im not keen on either one. And i doubt ill be able to sleep in church. Just sit and listen.

Right now im on future soldier website doing some training to get promoted. So far, the biggest struggle is the soldiers creed and land navigation. Seeing as im working from my phone, it hard to learn the latter. I was hoping I didnt have to memorize everything before basic.

Second to last, i was curious about education benefits. I was hoping to get 46V, but considering my situation and the fact it wasnt available, i went with the earliest ship date based off of other interested MOS’. So i was wondering how would education benefits work. Would it be while at AIT or after? And would i have time to attend? Will i have someone to help me find a college or is that something I have to research on my own?

And lastly, besides the basics or training before basic, keep my head down and follow instructions, what other tips can you provide while at both basic and AIT?
