She literally doesn't understand who birthday parties are for

My husband and our little girl both have birthdays coming up in the next couple of weeks. We're not seeing MIL at the moment because she's irresponsible about social distancing (though we've told her we aren't seeing anyone yet).
This morning on the phone, MIL told husband she's going to have a birthday party for each of them. By herself. I am so bewildered.
My husband says that before we realised she was a narcissist, this wouldn't have struck him as weird at all.
