I thought you guys might be interested in an update.
I got a text today with a huge apology. It was...well, it was my MIL. It veered into the melodramatic ("I love you all with every atom of my soul" sort of stuff) and it apologised for putting my husband in an impossible position (implying again, at least the way I read it, that it was my boundary she crossed, not ours, as if he has to pick between two equally valid positions, mine and hers).
I thanked her for the apology, and I apologised for shouting at her but not for enforcing a boundary my husband and I put in place to protect our daughter. I told her we accepted her apology, clarified that we make decisions about the baby's care as a team, and said we could move forward amicably.
Do you think I did okay?
