I am 55 years old. I work in a supervisory capacity at the local government level for a City. I have raised three kids of my own (grown, college-age, high school), and have been married for over just over three decades.
And yesterday, my mother took the time to give me detailed instructions on what to buy my son to wear to an upcoming formal event. As in: "make sure you get a good heavyweight button-down shirt in this color or this color, and this color blazer to wear with it, and this color tie..."
As though I don't know how to a) dress for events, b) shop for my kids, or (apparently) c) get in out of the rain to stay dry.
She's always been a lecturer, but either she's getting worse or I've just started being annoyed by it more. I am ready to S C R E A M. GAH.
