Not reviewing indie brands because they can't keep up with the demand

It really gave me the ick when I saw Matthew Steven's TikToks (the owner of the illusion bronze tanner) and he played the old video where she said she doesn't review indie brands anymore because they can't keep up with the increase in sales from her reviews. I find that so disrespectful and egotistical - though not all that surprising coming from her.

I've seen several videos from various people reacting to and talking about this whole situation (tanner-gate??) and most people say "Oh okay that makes sense" when they hear that clip. I don't get it. I think it's scummy to say that she won't review indie brands because then her audience has to wait longer for their orders.

I would love to hear everyone else's thoughts on this. I'm sure that's just her convenient excuse to not review small brands that don't send her PR or pay for ads from her. But what do you think of that statement in general? What would you think if a more "trustworthy" influencer said the same thing?
