I've just graduated with my BSN, and have been accepted into a DNP program in NM/WHNP. I've been applying like crazy to nursing jobs of all kinds, and have just been offered my first nursing job working at an inpatient/outpatient substance abuse/behavioral health clinic. The pay definitely isn't as good as jobs in the local hospital settings, but I am really psyched about helping underserved populations in the area.
So, my question for you all is what types of nursing experience you had before completing your graduate programs, and how you feel those contributed to your current practice. (And also, do you think this type of position will help my future practice, or do you think I really need some hospital experience?)
