Great Movie, not as bone-chilling as Hereditary but really good. A lot of hidden details are being revealed the more I dive into it. I still don't have these pieces:
9 People died. It seems they all had a purpose and a way to use their bodies to "bless" a specific natural resource to the village. Simon was the chickens, one elder guy was fruits, josh was cultivation? what about the other two from the community that just died in the fire? also what was the exact deal with the bear? I know a little bit how it ties with the story but not much. What about the rest? what symbolism was held to them? mark as the straw man? why?
Why did it seem were people older than 72 in the community? Or were they not? also the people that jumped looked older than 72.. or not?
What was going on with that moving flower?
I wanted to know more about the mythology of the community, what exactly did they believe in?
why did Christian decide the last minute to do his thesis on Hergen? it seems like it was planted on him.
The kids there all of them seem drugged the entire time. They just seemed kind of off most of the time. does anybody know exactly what kind of drugs they were getting? it can't all be the mushrooms all that much, can it? they said something about Yew three towards the end.
Does this ritual happen every 90 years? or did I miss something.
What was that on John's mouth?
Is there any information on the deaths of Dani's sister?
Where there any other minor details within the movie that might give a better understanding to the movie? for example, I found the screaming was barely audible, also there were faces of danis sister in the crowd as well as her face in the trees at some point. Was there other stuff?
Where can I find more lore, to understand this more completely
Thanks? and sorry for the shambles of questions. I'm sleep deprived at the moment. I can't think cohesively as much as I would like. thanks.
