In the past, we used to be able to connect to Teams meetings where teams would call your number entered via a phone number, and have it connect to your "session" via the same instance you opened the meeting with.
Now instead it connects as a separate instance, and there is a delay in when you can connect over a phone number, and at times you have to dial a toll number in order to connect over phone in the first place.
Expected Behavior:
1. Click meeting invite link via Outlook Desktop that was added to your Outlook Calendar
2. Loads up Teams Desktop meeting
3. Popup shows up asking how you want to connect to audio
4. select phone, then previously used phone number (or new one)
5. meeting joined with name attached to phone #
6. Have initial popup disappear automatically
Actual Result:
1. Click meeting invite link via Outlook Desktop that was added to your Outlook Calendar
2. Loads up Teams Desktop meeting
3. Meeting Now window asks how you want to connect to audio
4. Phone (option 2) is completely greyed out for about 30 seconds
5. meeting is joined, popup shows either step 4 from above, or has you call a number
6. after the call, meeting is joined, but your name is not attached to your phone number (which is obfuscated and no way to merge People in the meeting)
7. have to manually close the initial popup
In before someone says "just use your webcam or a physical mic"; we aren't allowed such things on our work desktops, so phone is the only option. Laptops have them built in so laptop users aren't the focus of this post.
Also, only dialing in exclusively via phone isn't an option because we often need to screen share too.
