Primary Doc for Dressing Change?
Post Body

Hi, all. I had my MD on 5/28. On 6/12 my incision opened up. On 6/13 I visited my surgeon and he used nylon stitches (previously had glue), covered me with gauze, and they type of cling wrap not sure what it’s called.

His office manager reached out to a wound care team who didn’t tell us until this afternoon that they weren’t accepting me. She reached out to another facility but said they probably wouldn’t get back to us until Monday.

Well, my gauze is REALLY saturated with discharge. When I sit down and leak my back against pillows it’s like I can feel the wetness. I texted the doc’s PA which I’ve been doing, and this is the first time he hasn’t gotten back to me in the same day. I was asking if he would like me to change the dressing myself, something I had done previously under his direction before the incision opened up.

Does anyone think I should just clean and change it on my own? It doesn’t look like my primary doc has appointments tomorrow, but I can always call. I just feel like I shouldn’t be keeping this saturated gauze on me since it’s so full.
