On 5/28 I had an MD. The MRI only showed 1 herniated disc but when the doc went in he told me he found two. I was sent home with the typical stuff ā€” brace, antibiotics, painkillers. I was told I could remove the gauze and plastic bandage at 5-7 days so I removed it on day 6. Things were going well until Monday I felt like my incision was leaking. Donā€™t really know how else to describe it. Spoke to my doc/his PA and they said to clean gently with a little bit of hydrogen peroxide daily, and cover it with a sterile surgical pad. He basically said itā€™s healing a bit oddly because I have a ā€œrollā€ towards the top of the incision (not his words).

Today I reached out to the PA and sent him updated pics of the incision. He told me to start airing it out 1-2 hours before I plan on cleaning/changing the dressing, asked if my boyfriend can aid in the glue coming off at the top of the incision, and told me to not use the back brace anymore since it causes more heat/moisture. He told me the ā€œleakingā€ milky stuff I see is granulation tissue.

He asked how Iā€™ve been sleeping and I said on my back. He asked if I could sleep on my side and I told him Iā€™ve been nervous to since Iā€™m typically a stomach sleeper and didnā€™t want to move around in my sleep. He said that they normally donā€™t want patients to sleep on their stomach, but for me it would allow there to be less pressure/rubbing on the incision. Also to take some more antibiotics.

Side note: a few days before, the office manager said the antibiotics and painkillers would be delivered to my house. Day of the surgery the PA told me since I was having my surgery done out of state I needed to get the meds at the hospital pharmacy. When I came home the office manager said he must have mixed it up because the delivery was still set up so I ended up with two bottles of antibiotics and two of Percocet.

Wondering if anyone else on here is heavy and what their experience was like?
