Context: I've been chronically bloated for 13 years, have had all kinds of diagnoses including IBS, and a couple positive SIBO tests. Tried a lot of different exclusion diets, antibiotics, herbals, antibiotics, ... nothing ever really helped.
Currently was/am trying to introduce more fermented foods (kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha). All tolerated well.
I thought I would try to add probiotics as well, and I started taking a probiotic/prebiotic combo containing the following 10 strains per gram/2 capsules (daily dosage, totaling 10 billion CFU):
- Bifidobacterium an lactis (BLA 5764) 2 billion
- Bifidobacterium bifidum 0.5 billion
- Bifidobacterium breve (BBR 6018) 1 billion
- Bifidobacterium l longum (BLO 6300) 1 billion
- Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS-1 / LAC 6307) 0.5 billion
- Lactobacillus casei (LCA 5773) 1 billion
- Lactobacillus delbr bulgaricus (LBU 1710) 0.5 billion
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus (LRH 5326) 1 billion
- Lactobacillus salivarius 0.5 billion
- Lactobacillus lactis (LLA 1676) 2 billion
It also contains 27mg of FOS Inuline Agave as a prebiotic.
I started taking it a week ago on the dot, on Friday. First I took one capsule in the morning with breakfast and one in the evening with dinner, but then I switched to taking both on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before breakfast, as instructed on the bottle.
Beginning on Tuesday, I started feeling like my sweating was disregulated a bit, like I started sweating more quickly, but the most extreme reaction were these VERY intense 30 minute sweating sessions after meals. It hasn't happened with every meal, but roughly one out of three meals since started. (The exact same breakfast has both triggered it and not caused any effect, so I'm not sure?).
Besides the insane sweats (which are understandably very uncomfortable, I have sweat dripping off my chest and upper back) I haven't noticed any strong side effects.
When I mentioned this to a friend who studied orthomolecular therapy, she mentioned having had the same effect from her probiotics course (and she halted it). So many questions: Should I halt the probiotics? What exactly is going on here? Is this a good thing? Bad? Will this pass if I keep taking the antibiotics? Or could this permanently throw off my sweat response? Is this a known effect? I couldn't find much.
Tl;dr: started new probiotic/prebiotic course, it's causing me to sweat really intensely, mostly after meals. Seeking advice.
