It’s too late to register online or by mail, but you can still register to vote on Election Day at your city or township clerk’s office. Here’s what you’ll need to bring:
1. Proof of Residence: A document showing your current address in Michigan, such as a Michigan driver’s license, state ID, utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or a government document with your name and current address.
2. Photo ID: If you have a valid photo ID, you must show it. Acceptable forms include:
• Michigan driver’s license or state ID.
• Driver’s license or ID card from another state.
• U.S. passport.
• Military ID with photo.
• Tribal ID with photo.
• Student ID with photo from a Michigan educational institution.
If you do not have a photo ID, you can still vote by signing an affidavit stating you don’t have ID.
Note: If your Michigan driver’s license or state ID has your current address, it can serve as both proof of residence and photo ID.
Can’t wait until Election Day? You can also register in person before Election Day at your city or township clerk’s office, or other common locations like public libraries, city hall, or Secretary of State’s offices.
