MJ's writings to himself (presented in the order Thriller 40 shows, starting at about 7:16 in the movie):
"I hear the whole entire song and arrangements in my head."
"put them down orally on tape then I go out and find that instrument,"
"I don't give in until I get exactly what I want."
(at about 7:57) "adding on litting [sic] the song tell me what it needs."
MJ talking about doing affirmations in the mirror (audio only, starts at about 7:26):
"I look in the mirror and I would say over and over to myself, I'd take a deep breath, put my feet together, raise myself erect, strong, like a hero warrior, and I'd say "biggest-selling album of all time", "greatest-selling-" over and over to my mind, and look in my eyes and I'd mean it. I'd say "biggest selling album of all times." And I wouldn't accept anything unless it's was exactly what I wanted. My attitude was I want the biggest-selling album of all times. To break records. To do phenomenal work. I came in angry."
John Lennon quote on MJ's Hayvenhurst studio wall (at about 15:55):
"When the real music comes to me - the music of the spheres, the music that surpasseth understanding - that has nothing to do with me, cause I'm just the channel. The only joy for me is for it to be given to me and to transcribe it like a medium...... those moments are what I live for."
...I thought this was pretty cool! We get a peek at his thought processes and what went into making Thriller. What do you think?
