Stutter at idle help
Post Body

About a week ago my 96 NA developed a slight stutter / hiccup at low rpm. At first I thought it was because I filled up with bad gas. I went to some random gas station because I needed to fill up and I was far from home. Because it was super cheap I filled up on premium, and by the time I got home there was a stutter.

To be more specific it’s now only at idle, a few days ago it would still stutter and sliiiightly “pop” while driving in low rpm’s. The car will idle roughly at 1k, and at every pop and stutter drop to the next mark (a quarter down maybe?). I have no problem turning the car over, and it’s never died on me. The CEL turned on only about 2 days ago too, days after the symptoms started.

I’ve done a few google searches and most people seem to have exaggerated symptoms that I have. I’m wondering if it’s a bad fuel pump or filter?

I have already done a new tank of gas, though I drove through the old one and filled up at about half way, and I’ve gone ahead and changed the spark plugs and plug wires.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m borrowing an OBDII checker after work, so I should know more soon.
