My friend needs some advise

Miata people, assemble!!!

My friend's problem:

"I changed the battery and as I was driving the battery light came on, I thought it might by the terminals so I cleaned the terminals, then I figured the alternator so I checked the voltage and got around 12.6v when the car was off and when it was on the car ready around 14.6 which seems like it's working ok and some people on the forums said to check the IAT sensor which the resistance around 70 degrees read about 1.7 k ohms, to me it seems like everything is in working order i'm not sure what else I should check?"
