Retro Fighters Hunter - 2.4GHz mode on MiSTer?

I recently bought a Retro Fighters Hunter (OG Xbox model) controller and can't seem to get it to work with MiSTer over the included USB-C connection or 2.4GHz dongle using either the D-input or X-input mode. Has anyone had any luck with this controller, or is there a trick to making it work with MiSTer?
