Measuring the Qual’ Sphere
Post Body

Hi all,

Looking for your valued help once again!

Our CMM recently suffered a fatal controller error, which forced us to upgrade the controller and a few other bits, including a new probe head, which Hexagon promptly did. As part of our companies internal procedures, we need to run some tests / measure some artefacts to make sure we are happy with the machine and work done, here is where the problem starts! Hexagon have calibrated the machine and passed it off, the first 2 test we carried out both passed, first test measured a calibrated artefact consisting of various length bars, ring gauges and spheres. Second test had various parts measured back to back on our other CMM, all passed. The last test involves measuring the qual’ sphere at various head angles using our longest extension, this fails and is more than twice what we have seen previously!

PCDMIS 2024.1 PH10MQ Plus 200mm extension TP20 4by20mm tip

Any guidance would be much appreciated!
