I'm playing fusion and zero mission via mgba on my pc and having nostalgic fun overall. But the issue is in fusion and on one specific part where I'm locked.

After the Serris fight, I grab the speedbooster and head through until you hit that stretch where you run and trigger speedboost, crouch at the very end, drop a little and shinespark to the left until you hit the end and have to speedboost again to break the tiles in the floor. Well I run over, crouch to store energy, drop down and hit neutral jump to trigger SS and nothing happens. I don't actually do anything but jump in place. Is there a bug with the rom? My controller is some generic xbone modeled wired gamepad for pc games. What else could be the issue?
