Exactly 30 days ago I posted about replaying Metroid Prime 2: Echoes the first time in 20 years since it came out. I have since finished that entry, developing a greater fondness and appreciation for it. Now I’m onto Prime 3, of which I tried briefly after borrowing it from a friend several years back, but just couldn’t get into it at the time. Obviously the controls are the biggest divisive factor for players, and it has certainly taken me a bit to acclimate myself to them. So far I’m still not keen on having to move the Wii Remote to move the camera, but ripping shields away with the grapple beam is fun. The music hasn’t really done much for me when thinking of Prime and Prime 2’s fantastic themes, but it’s still early yet. I feel like I’ve had an easier time obtaining pickups early on too. Whether this is for accessibility purposes or not as the Wii generation tried to appeal to casual gamers as well I’m not sure yet either.
