Cross-posted from r/retail:
An Adidas shoebox included in one of the comments.
My real life ridiculous experience I had as a sales associate in ladies shoes:
*brings her out the shoes she asked for in her size
Lady: “I’m sorry, what size is this?”
Me: “it is a European 38, so it’s around a 7-7.5 in US sizes” (easiest way to explain to customers)
Lady: “Okay, well I asked for a 7.5.”
Me: “ma’am they are technically whole sizes. European sizes run a bit differently. This brand does 6-6.5, 7-7.5 and so on”
Lady: “I don’t understand. I went to Paris and they had normal sizes. I went to the Netherlands and they didn’t have any of these ‘European sizes’”
Me: “I don’t know what to tell you. These are a german brand shoes that go by their respected sizes.”
Lady: “I think that is ridiculous. Why can’t the Germans be like Americans? Oh their feet are SO SPECIAL with their SPECIAL SIZES. everything has to be so messed up over in Europe. Why can’t they make a shoe to FIT MY FOOT?! Is it that hard to make US SIZES?”
Yeah. This was awhile back but I had no idea how to respond. I ended up slowly backing away…
