A review of The Seven Measures Of The World, written by an Italian physicist Piero Martin of the University of Padova (Padua).
The book explains the origin and use of each of the seven basic measurements in the SI: the metre, kilogram, second, ampere, kelvin, candela and mole.
The review ends by saying:
It doesn’t take much scientific background to follow author’s narrative, though it helps when he gets into the more arcane corners, such as the measurement of visible light. Still, it is good fun overall.
