I am on 100mg of methadone maintenance daily for almost 2 years now. I also have a history of severe back pain and spinal fusion surgeries etc. I am getting closer to needing a couple levels in my thoracic spine fused above and below my previous fusion.

My question is how is pain control typically handled for someone on such a high dose of methadone. Would the hospital even attempt pain control with any other pain killers or are all opioids fully blocked with methadone.. let alone I’m prob completely tolerant.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Can fentanyl or higher dose oxycodone etc have any effect on someone taking daily methadone at these doses.

Thanks in advance. Not drug seeking etc. just genuinely worried about pain control.
