I have been hearing or seeing this drug around subreddits and my clinic for a bit, and just recently had a conversation with my therapist about it, the new narcan-resistant drug being cut in dope and pressies. She says it’s been showing up in urine tests more and more lately. Anybody have experience with it and the effects, as well as what kind of treatment would be required to get off of it?
I’m absolutely terrified for my friends and family still suffering from opiate addiction who may run into this substance soon, or have already. I read it’s an analog of clonidine, so it’s really not even an opiate?? I’m so confused as to how it even started being cut into fent and other dope, but is it noticeably different than fent? Stronger, weaker, more sedating or less? More or less euphoria/legs than fent? It’s been a good 8 months since I’ve done anything other than my methadone and I’m very grateful, but life has been extremely hard lately and I’ve had more cravings than usual, really the major thing keeping me from using now is fear that I won’t even get real dope or fent, I’ll just get something that’s going to kill me or fuck me up big time on my first relapse when I just wanted to get high. Not worth it.
What I really wanted to know was if anybody has experience with it, what to do in a situation where somebody has overdosed on dope with Xylazine in it, and what the best form of treatment or MAT is for someone coming off this substance, if it’s any different at all than opiate use disorder MAT.
And finally my biggest question - do we expect this to be the norm for drug use culture now? Is this what’s to come in the next 10, 20 years? What kind of insane, extra-resistant, murderous toxins are our children going to be experimenting with, and god forbid become addicted to? I know heroin was bad, but compared to fentanyl and this Xylazine stuff, as well as the cuts I’ve heard being put into fake xans, i truly wish we were still struggling with heroin and OxyContin. This new era of drugs is so much worse, and I fear greatly for the next generations of drug addicts.
