Don't want to over build/waste money on new foundry build
Post Body

I want to make a new foundry and want to build it out of firebricks....I am planing on laying them flat so that is about 3in thick wall...then was planing on a layer of koawool and then 1-2,in of refactory cement...but is that over kill?

Should I just put mortar in-between the firebricks and call it done? Also I have some old clay bricks and thought about using those then the wool and cement?

Wanting to get to steel temps and use a #4 crusible
