Sundays Question …..

I have been working with brass for several months now, have been doing a significant amount of grinding and collecting the scraps… once I have a full container of the filings I pour it all into a crucible and attempt to melt, but it always seems as though the filings either don’t melt or turn to drass that gets pulled away before I pour. Does anyone know what is happening?
