I've suggested this before, but it was in a mod application, so I doubt it got through. To elaborate, drama needs to be allowed an organic existence before SRD touches it.
This would allow scores to settle into their natural state before we risk mucking them up. Metalinking comes with a really marked observer effect, particularly for the type of content we focus on- conflict. Drama and arguments are volatile by definition, and so is voting, and so is being egged on by the peanut gallery. There is a lot of room for us to shift the tenor of linked drama.
Plus, it's just common courtesy. No mod likes cleaning up the pieces after a shitstorm and being confused about how their community really feels about things.
The other side of this coin is that it prevents the linked subreddit from counterbrigading us via the meta bot. This doesn't happen a lot, but it is another pro to what I'm proposing.
