Hey folks, Ok I guess I can begin by listing some specs.
Motherboard: Duralable Gigabyte B550 UD AC (Just Purchased)
PSU: 1075w KDM (just Purchased)
Ram: 32gb 3200 (Running at 2100 I believe without looking into the bios right now XMP has never worked for some reason. Ill explain)
GPU's:: RX580 8gb and RX 480 8gb (running in crossfire mode)
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700 (Watercooled)
Plenty of fans too
OK So this started with my old build which I had an 850w PSU and a B450 pro max MOBO
Everything had been working great. I could run any game (VR or Nopt) I wanted with very little to no lag. Like an idiot one day I started updating drivers for everything and found AMD Master and installed it to see if I could find some cool additional options to fuck with. I could overclock my GPUS and CPU already via bios and AMD software but I wanted to see if there was more to the machine than I knew. Im a tech nerd so for the most part I believed I knew what I was doing.
WRONG!!!
WRONG!!
After the install I booted back up and loaded vam which is graphic intensive but I hadnt had any trouble with my config so I really didnt think nothing of it. Vam usually takes time to load so I was prepared to wait. Unfortunately I didnt have to wait long before the computer just shut the fuck down without warning. I would restart and try again and either get a BSOD or a complete shut down. I booted into safemode and uninstalled AMD master or whatever it was called but m,y machine was never ever the same again. This was months ago and I to this day cant load VAM anymore. At least not in VR but sometimes any game now would crash my machine. eventually. Everything else runs fine from VR VIdeos, to Virtual Desktop and I can navigate my pc in vr well. But when running load it would just shut off. Sometimers my lights stay on sometimes my lights also go down with the system in a complete shut off.
After extensive googling and AI chatting I came to several conclusions of which the most probably were the psu failing or the GPU failing. So I started by taking oput 1 of the GPU's to test them both separately. I can run stress test and all without any error on either but individually they were both doing the same exact thing. So I went and got an gt 710 and popped it in. THis is a 2 gig cardso I knew I couldnt go too crazy but I did some testing and as I expected it would get as far as loading and then crash again. I then tried a 1060 6gb. Same thing happened. After more research I found it could be the MOBO. SO I just jumped over all hurdles and started ordering shit. Now I have a really nice B550 mobo, I upgraded the PSU as well and put everything back together erased an M2 500 gb drive I had and reinstalled windows 10 pro and left it completely vanilla and ran all my updates. I started with the rx 480 by itself and was getting BSOD in the 16x slot. (Keep this in mind as I dont know how important this is.) I then tried the RX 580 and had the same problem.
Then as I was pulling my head out of the hole I made in the wall with it, I thought, lemme change the pcie ports to see what happens. To my surprise, Boom windows came on and I got to finish my setup. I thought to myself. Alright now maybe I can figure this out. I think I should point out that along the way of troubleshooting prior to replacing everything and having any issues besides lag, I found the Amerinime drivers which was ultimately what got my computer running awesome to begin with. Like this stuff was a miracle to my system as usuing the stock drivers for AMD cards always gave me FPS issues but nothing beyond that. The Amerinime software made my computer feel brand new. That is until that fateful day I installed the master software.
Anywho, but after upgrading the hardware I decided to give AMD another shot and installed the stock drivers for the cards which I noticed the performance suffer right away and decided to go back to the alt drivers. Which I even got the latest ones from Amerionime. I was very excited to try out VAM and have this fluid immerse experience., I first loaded it in desktop mode which ran pretty well for the few minutes that I was in there. SO I closed out and loaded it in VR mode with my quest 2. Which just as a reminder used to work amazing AF.. It started the loading process and I ut my headset on and was in LINK VR mode when the screen in my Quest froze. I thought this has got to be a headset issue but when I took it off I was in utter darkness. The PC had completely crashed out. I then went through many cartoonish attempts at trying different configs including both GPU's in single or multi mode that in my memory run like a TV montage with the Foot Loose them playing in the background. Except in my town My santity seemed to be what was band.
Ive checked and updated the bios and all the drivers. Ive activated crossfire and have the game set to run in crossfire mode. SO I should be running 16gbs of Vramn, 32gb's of Regular Ram and setup my page file with double my ram values as suggested on multiple sites and for the ever-living life of me, I cannot get any VR games to stay on more that 2 or 3 minutes and with VAM forget it, It goes to load and shuts me completely down. I had found an article that I cant find anymore of course that stated there could be a power setting in the bios not allowing the GPU's tyo get enough power but I can find anything like that in the bios And I am now planning on sky diving into a field of thornbushes and razor blades and landing in a pool of whiskey and grain alcohol and never ever getting on a computer ever again.
If there is any hope for me, I hop[e that maybe you all can guide me into getting my system to where I was before all this started. Should I reflash my GPU cards or something? I really have no clue what to do next. I thank you guys for sitting through this long ass post in order to help my dumb ass. If you can please....... HELP!!!!
