What is the point of upgrading the toy cars? And why is the gold earned for selling merged objects so weird?
Post Body

Toy Cars

I have a level 5, 7, and 8 toy car. I'm really confused about the purpose of upgrading them. All they drop is level 1 light bulbs, and they each drop ten of them. Why are they programmed differently from the tool barrels, for example, where the higher ones give you Pruning Shears sometimes, and level 2 and 4 items more often than lower barrels.

Gold from Merged Items

If you look at what you earn for selling low level items it establishes a pretty simple pattern.

Item Level Gold for Selling
1 1 20
2 2 21
3 4 22

So gold = 2^(level - 1).

Based on this, selling a level 4 item should get you 8 gold. But it gets you 6. This is true of tool barrels, tool boxes, power detergents, vases, ... everything. Why? And then it starts earning a bit more than you'd expect. But there doesn't seem to be any sort of pattern.

Item Level Gold for Selling
4 6 (level - 1)(level - 2)
5 12 (level - 1)(level - 2) or G(level - 1) * 2
6 25 G(level - 1) * 2 1
7 51 G(level - 1) * 2 1
8 102 G(level - 1) * 2
9 205 G(level - 1) * 2 1
10 410 G(level - 1) * 2
11 820 G(level - 1) * 2

Like...why? This is slightly better than the gold earned for merged items in the previous two events. But... what the hell?
