Hey everyone,
I recently just started playing overwatch and have played a number of characters from all roles. I can be an effective tank and dps if I need to be since my aim is decent but I really found myself enjoying Mercy.
I took some time this week and watched all the “HOW 2 BE MERCY” videos on YouTube I could lol. I’ve learned a ton about her movement and strategies as well as who I should prioritize etc and I’ve found great success with the new information. I love zipping around the battlefield using guardian angel and swooping in to grab revives when I can to really help the team out.
She’s super fun, but I’ve been noticing recently even with my best mercy, when the other team has an enemy Moira and Baptiste they can output just nearly as much healing as me AND also throw out a TON of additional DPS for their team. This has been making me questioning my Mercy’s worth especially when I have a Lucio, Baptiste, or Moira on my team who is healing a ton and adding to the DPS pool when I can only gun down a seldom widow, mercy, or Ana in the back line if I get the opportunity. Majority of the games I’m in we win, so I know I’m not useless, I just feel bad for not contributing the additional DPS like the other supports that can.
To clarify, I don’t healbot so I’m not a tunnel vision mercy, I make use of mercy to be flexible as possible, boosting DPS at strategic times, healing when necessary, reviving when safe, prioritizing my life if teammates are being dumb, pushing objectives, taking opportunities to get picks on back line heroes when I can, etc.
Does anyone ever feel like this even though you really want to just play mercy?
Is there anything else I could do? Or is that just it?
