Recently purchased all DLC: please help this noob

Before I purchased I had 8 p1 heroes and I was farmin t3 and t4 but all the heroes were equipped with S rank t3 highend gear and a few t4 weeklies. Now I have 1 p2 and 9p1 and and 5 with no prestige but I'm back farming t1 and goblin feast for my crafters and money because I can't kill monarch or Khan and even ares prime needs like a full 5/6 man team. Am I doing something wrong or should I be tackling these with ascended gear. None of my gear except the training gear is ascended.
