ADHD Diagnosis: GP refusing to prescribe?

Post Body

HI all,

I have ADHD, and was really struggling at work and personally, which lead me to seek diagnosis a year or so ago. My Gp originally said that diagnosis on the NHS would be at least 18 months away, and could be up to 2 years away. I therefore went private, received a positive diagnosis and began titration with a registered local psychiatrist. I am stable on meds now, and after some considerable expense, need my GP to take over prescribing. However, my GP now tells me that unless I obtained diagnosis via the NHS, I am not eligible to receive prescriptions via the NHS. This flatly contradicts their previous ascertions. I can't believe they would require me to wait 2 years, and waste resources diagnosing me with something that has already been dealt with. I also can't accept that I will need to pay for meds and prescriptions for 2 years because of this.

I am being stonewalled by my GP who insists that their word is law.

What rights of appeal do I have here?

Thanks for any help
