Returning to work
Post Body

I have been on a mental health leave from work for over 4 months, and I’m doing a gradual return. My first day is tomorrow, and this week will just be one day. I am a counsellor at a women shelter and I love my job, but I struggle with my own mental health which fluctuates (the pandemic escalated it again). Anyway, I feel really anxious, which I know is normal. I’ve been crying on and off all day, and I feel really alone, even though I have good supports in my life that I’m thankful for. I think I still feel overwhelmed easily, and somehow being at home felt safe. It was still a rough time off, and my depression was awful at different points that my psychiatrist had to switch my medication. I am starting to be in a better place, and I think it’s the right time to make that step to go back to work. I just feel really raw and vulnerable still. :( Just wondering if anyone has recently gone through this.
