Taking Escitalopram for my Panic disorder (experiencing heightened anxiety, palpitations, chills as side effects)

Post Body

So I've recently been diagnosed with a Panic Disorder and my psychiatrist prescribed me Escitalopram 5mg for the first 3 days and to take 10mg on the 4th and onwards. She additionally prescribed me alprazolam, half a tab of 500mcg once daily as needed. I also take Coralan for my heart rate which was previously prescribed by my cardiologist.

On my first night I woke up and had severe palpitations and shaking that felt at least 120-130bpm. So I ended up taking a whole tab of xanax instead of 1/2 to calm me down. It helped tremendously and I fell asleep after that attack.

The following morning after the first night, I got palpitations again and messaged my psychiatrist about my concerns with the meds. She still thinks it's mostly due to my anxiety and to observe the symptoms in the next few days (I have a follow-up appointment on the 30th of November.) She also told me to take 1/2 a tab of alprazolam twice a day instead of once a day.

I'm currently on my 4th day of Escitalopram and had just taken my 10mg dose for the morning and I'm currently experiencing chills and hot flashes. In the past few days I noticed my heart rate is higher than usual, as well as my anxiety which is mostly controlled with the alprazolam throughout the day, on mornings I still get mild palpitations (around 90-110 bpm)

I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar and how long it's lasted for you?

All comments are welcome and I'd love to hear your experiences with this antidepressant. Thanks!
