Has anyone else noticed double standards in entertainment? I have and it’s frustrating.

It took me a long time to see this and it’s strange to watch or read things now without noticing it.

Big Bang Theory: before Leonard got with Penny he simped for her for what was it, 2 seasons. Failed at dating and was simp for her. She openly dated other guys and it felt like she dragged him along for years. Then, he’s sort of the bad guy when he dated someone else some other season and she gets ‘territorial’.

King of Queens: Kevin loses weight and gets in shape. His wife immediately tries to sabotage him and break his diet. Not to mention lots of verbal demeaning of him through the series.

Xmen: Cyclops cheated on by Jean Grey every ten minutes because she saw Wolverine and had him simp for her for decades. Writers continuously do him bad.

SVU: FBI Agent murders her flames pregnant fiancée and is met with sympathy by Benson because she was ‘played’ by him. She murdered an innocent woman because she was jealous.

I mean. It’s weird. I used to grow up thinking it was normal for a guy to be yelled at, demeaned, hit by a woman because he ‘deserved’ it for doing something. A guy being catfished.

I was in a ‘relationship’ and I use that term loosely with someone who did that to me and I thought it was normal. I took hits because they didn’t hurt and shrugged off names. Now I look at it and think why did I think that was normal. A lot of reinforcement made me think it was.

Anyone else can think of anything? I know there’s more but these came to mind for me today.
