I hope everyone out there is doing well and staying safe
I was diagnosed with Meniere's in September of 2016. Basically, late 2016 and early 2017 were hell on earth for me. I woke up one morning with hearing loss in my left ear and soon afterward the tinnitus and vertigo set in. This was not a gradual thing, basically I got Meniere's overnight. My hearing had always been good before this and I had history of vertigo.
The next few months I dealt with loud high pitched ringing and the attacks were horrific. I was laid out in bed for a couple days at a time with everything spinning. When an attack hit, my hearing would improve.
Around mid or late 2017, the attacks really subsided and the following years until now have been OK. I get lightheaded sometimes but it isn't vertigo. I can live my live as I want so I am very lucky in that aspect.
Over the last 3 years or so I've had about 5 hearing tests done and I have mild low frequency loss in my left ear. My doctor said the loss is mild enough that a hearing aid isn't needed and my left ear is doing OK...probably 80 percent of hearing intact, right ear is 100 percent normal.
Unfortunately, the last few months have been rough. Does anyone else have constant popping, clicking and crackling in their ear? Like the Eustachian tube is always moving around? The entire time I talk my ear is popping and clicking...it only stops if I'm totally still.
I don't have high-pitched tinnitus currently, but I would describe my left ear like someone shot a gun beside my head and it messed up my hearing. Hearing on that side is 100 percent void of high frequencies and everything is a tinny, distorted mess. I've experienced this before but usually for a few days, never months where it hasn't changed.
I was under the impression that my hearing wouldn't get worse as long as there were no attacks. Has anyone else had the same trajectory as I have?
Thanks everyone
