So whilst I'm not here looking for a diagnosis, I would be interested to see what others think of my symptoms.
I've seen private doctors (in the UK, compared to the free NHS) who have said my symptoms could be caused by up to 30 different problems, making it impossible to diagnose.
So what happens with me is that my ear(s) get blocked up. It's been confirmed that this is not related to earwax, so I guess it must be an inner-ear thing?
Anyway, once my ear or ears feel blocked, I have about 2 hours to drive myself home before I'm incapable. From that point on, I suffer severe vertigo. Lying down is my favourite activity from this point, for 2 reasons.
- The less I move, the less noticeable the vertigo is.
- The medication I take to tackle the vertigo makes me sleepy.
Point 2 is a great side effect, because it means I can sleep through a lot of the discomfort caused by the vertigo.
Medication I'm currently taking is Buccastem (available over the counter, rather than needing to be prescribed). The active ingredient is prochlorperazine.
I previously took Prochlorperazine itself directly, but this needed to be prescribed - by finding the alternative, I don't have to visit a GP each time I have an episode (or hoard tablets from the last time it happened).
Anyone else out there have similar experiences?
