Nicholas's and Ryan's portrayal of Lyle in the Netflix series pisses me off

Nicholas's not a bad actor and obviously he's not at fault for this terrible series, but in some parts his portrayal just pissed me tf off. The testimony for example to me felt emotionless - he's crying but his eyes look blank. I feel like that's a purposeful attempt to make it seem like Lyle's some psychopath making shit up. He might've been told to portray him like that but if not, come on... I think actors have a responsibility to portray real life people accurately and research them. The real-life, emotional testimony isn't hard to find. It's odd that even though Ryan Murphy says he's trying to give 'all sides', Lyle is portrayed like a sociopathic villain throughout, even in scenes that are meant to be about the horrific abuse he endured. It paints a terrible picture of him and I can't believe Ryan Murphy had the nerve to say he didn't make things up lol.
