As someone who was sexually abused by another child, the average person does not have the right to judge either one.The victim is allowed to feel however they want but we don't get to dictate how they react. My friend molested me because she was being sexually abused. It was not good of her, but I’ve never blamed her. She was doing what she thought you do to show your love. Lyle was forced into beleive abuse was normal and even good. Even if you at first didn't think it was okay, you eventually will have to make yourself beleive it’s okay or else you will have a breakdown because you can't escape. Kids can not consent for many reasons but one is because you are not mature enough to fully understand the significance of sex, so neither one can be judged because when another child assaults a friend/sibling, they don’t understand how wrong it is. The difference between adult and child offenders is the awareness of the gravity of what they are doing. Kids are a reflection of how their parents behave. If you grow up thinking something is okay, you don’t know better. Once you grow up you start to unpack the trauma and realize how wrong it was. It’s like murder. If a kid does it after being raised to think it’s a good thing, yes it is bad. However, they don’t understand what they are doing. A parent does. COCSA (child on child SA) is one of the most emotionally complicated forms to fully process as a victim. There is no evil predator, in a way they are both victims. No two COCSA survivors feel the same. It’s such an individual thing. It wasn't Lyle’s fault, blame his father.
